cow drawing for kids

Drawing is a fantastic way for kids to express their creativity and improve their fine motor skills. One popular subject for young artists is a cow. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to draw a simple and cute cow that’s perfect for kids. Let’s get started!

Materials Needed

  • A piece of paper
  • A pencil
  • An eraser
  • Colored pencils, crayons, or markers (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Draw the Body

  1. Start by drawing a large oval shape in the center of your paper. This will be the cow’s body.
  2. Make sure to leave enough space at the top and bottom for the head and legs.

Step 2: Draw the Head

  1. Above the oval, draw a smaller circle for the cow’s head.
  2. Connect the head to the body with two short lines to form the neck.

Step 3: Add the Legs

  1. Draw four straight lines extending down from the bottom of the oval.
  2. Add small ovals at the end of each line for the hooves.

Step 4: Draw the Ears and Horns

  1. On top of the cow’s head, draw two small triangles for the ears.
  2. Inside each ear, draw a smaller triangle.
  3. Add two small curved lines on top of the head for the horns.

Step 5: Draw the Face

  1. Inside the head circle, draw two large circles for the eyes.
  2. Inside each eye, draw a smaller circle and color it in for the pupils.
  3. Below the eyes, draw an oval for the nose.
  4. Add two small nostrils inside the oval.
  5. Draw a curved line below the nose for the mouth.

Step 6: Add the Tail

  1. Draw a curved line extending from the back of the oval body.
  2. Add a small tuft at the end of the line for the tail.

Step 7: Add Spots and Details

  1. Draw several irregular shapes on the cow’s body for spots.
  2. You can make the spots any shape you like!

Step 8: Color Your Drawing

  1. Use colored pencils, crayons, or markers to color your cow.
  2. Cows are typically white with black & white spots, but feel free to get creative with your colors!
